Teen Counseling Specializations

Wholistic Counseling for ADHD

According to the CDC, nearly five million teenagers in the US have been diagnosed with ADHD. Our multi-layered approach helps address and support the person with ADHD instead of the ADHD itself. Additionally, we have a professional network of psychiatrists and other mental health specialists that we refer clients to if needed.

Approximately 1 in 5 American teenagers have had at least one major depressive episode. As with ADHD and all other mental health conditions, Wholistic Counseling treats the teen struggling with depression and not the depression the teen is currently hidden beneath.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a treatment that focuses on patterns of thinking and the beliefs, attitudes and values that underlie thinking. Unlike other approaches to psychotherapy, CBT places responsibility in the hands of clients while supplying them with the tools to solve their problems, focusing on the present rather than the past.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a therapeutic approach that can be highly beneficial to teenagers. It is common for teens to find themselves emotionally and mentally stuck, unable to figure out how to achieve their goals and attain wholistic well-being. By asking the right questions, specifically relating to overcoming the challenges being faced, Wholistic Counseling leads teens toward answers that will help get them out from beneath their current turmoils.

Strength-Based Therapy

We all have individual strengths and weaknesses; however, discovering and building upon our innate strengths is often challenging. Many teenagers dwell on their shortcomings, neglecting to focus on their positive attributes. At Wholistic Counseling, we know our clients have strengths, and we help identify them even when they are currently hidden. Once identified, these distinctive virtues can be utilized to improve the person as a whole, expanding their outlook on life.
