College Age: Mental Health

The college years are often described as “the best years of your life”—a time of discovery, independence, and growth. Yet for many young adults, this season can also bring unexpected challenges. Between academic demands, financial pressures, new social dynamics, and questions about the future, it’s no surprise that mental health has become one of the most pressing concerns on college campuses today.

Recent studies show that nearly 70% of college students report struggling with their mental health, with anxiety, depression, and stress at the top of the list. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death among young adults, and more students than ever are seeking support for issues like loneliness, sleep problems, and substance use.

At Wholistic Counseling PC, we understand that wellness is not just about surviving the semester—it’s about thriving as a whole person.

Our wholistic approach meets students where they are, helping them:

  • Build coping skills to manage stress and anxiety

  • Develop resilience in the face of academic and personal challenges

  • Strengthen healthy relationships and supportive connections

  • Discover balance through mindfulness, movement, and self-care

  • Find hope in times of discouragement or uncertainty

We believe that college-age individuals deserve care that honors both their struggles and their potential. By supporting the mind, body, and spirit, counseling can empower students to not only make it through college, but to emerge stronger, healthier, and more confident in who they are becoming.

This fall, as students return to campus, let us remember: behind every backpack is a person carrying more than books. A simple conversation, a word of encouragement, or a safe place to talk can make all the difference.

At Wholistic Counseling PC, we are here to walk alongside students every step of the way—because no one should have to face these years alone.
