Lifting Every Voice – Honoring Minority Mental Health and Disability Pride

July Is More Than Fireworks

While July is often filled with sunshine, barbecues, and beach days, it also carries a deeper message. It is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and Disability Pride Month—a time to shine light on underserved voices, challenge stigma, and reaffirm that healing is a right, not a luxury.

Why Minority Mental Health Matters

Mental health struggles affect people of all races and backgrounds. However, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), immigrant communities, and other marginalized groups often face additional obstacles:

  • Language barriers

  • Lack of culturally competent providers

  • Historical trauma and mistrust

  • Misdiagnosis or underdiagnosis

These barriers create real consequences. That’s why this month exists—to amplify awareness and make clear: you are not alone, and your story matters.

Let’s Talk About Disability and Mental Health

July also marks Disability Pride Month, commemorating the 1990 passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mental health and disability frequently intersect. Yet conversations around these overlaps are too often absent from the mainstream.

At Wholistic Counseling PC, we recognize that mental health care must be inclusive and affirming of every human experience—physical, emotional, and cultural.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We provide support for children ages 3+, teens, and adults from every walk of life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, or identity struggles, our team offers compassionate care that affirms your culture, story, and values.

We also offer telehealth services, ensuring access is available wherever you are.

How You Can Help This Month

  • Share this message with someone who may need to hear it

  • Start a conversation about mental health in your own community

  • Support organizations that elevate BIPOC and disabled voices

  • Reach out for help—for yourself or someone you love

You Belong Here

At Wholistic Counseling PC, we believe mental health is part of your wholeness. This July, let’s stand together in the truth that every story deserves to be heard—and every person deserves access to healing.
